300 word Art and Music biog
Tracey Roberts is one of Melbourne's most talented, accomplished and versatile singer-songwriter-pianists. Her jazz-infused folk-pop style original songs mesmerise listeners with richly, melodic musical chordings tinted with blues, cabaret and neo-classical influences. Her intelligently constructed lyrics are poetic and image-laden, often said to inspire and transport one into a place which is all about the experience or story within the song.

She is gifted with a dynamic vocal range and exceptional piano-playing sensitivity, theatrically delivering performances with a passion and energy that consistently holds audiences spellbound. 20 years of musical experience includes international touring, TV & radio, regular performances at concerts, functions and festivals. Her 8th CD, Shades of Blue, released in 2012, was recorded at Baker Street on the magnificent Steinway Grand Piano, and is a beautiful collection of sensitively performed songs with just vocals and piano.

Tracey is also a visual artist and a music-colour synesthete (one who involuntarily sees colours and shapes when listening to music.) Through her own diverse journey as a musician and performer, and with many years of varied experience in the music arena, Tracey's images are imbued with an acute understanding of music and the music business, her interpretation of music's effect on the brain and all that stems from the relationship between musicians and their instruments of choice.   Many of her art exhibitions include a musical performance, which is, of course, intrinsically part of her work. A selection of her limited edition prints permanently adorns the walls of the Burwood Music Centre in Melbourne) and she is always happy to discuss her music and artwork and how they are inextricably linked. In 2013 she released her first video music / art release on Blu-ray which is a 30 minute instrumental improvised piano concert and small interviews about music and selected artwork pieces.

She is also the brainchild behind "Your Story in Art" - a concept around creating a visual depiction of your own personal story encapsulated in a piece of unique art. Click on the image below to see more about this wonderfully personal and meaningful gift idea.
